Book One, Alizarin Crimson, saw Aya's first steps into the world of Aolians or Talents where she was threatened, spied on, and nearly killed. Consumed by the color red and the passion as well as violence it could produce within her own body, we ended with the addition of blue into her veins. Book Two, Cobalt Blue, is Aya's continued journey to find the Aveum, an Aolian relic that could change the fate of the world if it isn't destroyed. Not only does Aya have to deal with the depression wrought by the blue in her skin, but she must also come to terms with Liam's actions in book one, new enemies turned fleeting friends, and a psychotic boy who may with the award of most insane person in the whole series. Worse than Dune, which is a hard feat considering she's cuckoo.Again Erica Millard takes on a fun journey filled with danger and excitement around every corner. Not only that, but we delve further into Aya's deteriorating emotional balance between manic moments of passion thanks to the red and low, heartbreaking depression brought on by the blue in her body. Millard's use of these emotions is well written and believable, neither seeming over the top, while also being emotional for the reader as they journey along and care about Aya who is so clearly suffering.A worthwhile read that I enjoyed tremendously. I cannot wait for book three. I'm sure it will be just as exciting as its predecessors.

I loved this book so much! Love the believable characters and their innate goodness. They are reliable in their actions . . . I feel like I can trust them with my allegiance. Also has a nice romantic aspect to it. Can't wait for the next one!!

I read this in spurts. The beauty, love, danger, lies, loyalties~ and colours, always colours~ often overwhelmed me. I was there, with them, not reading or watching like a film, but in the story, part of the fear and excitement and sorrow and love and anger {and yes, they are all tangled like that throughout} and sometimes I had to stop and breathe, or weep, or stop weeping. I had to remember that I am a half-century beyond their ages, beyond the intensity and confusion of teenage love. The characters are fully developed, so real I'd forget this was fiction.Van Gogh's writings tore my heart, simple words of complex conflicts and beauty. Her first book, Alizarin Crimson, is just as real. Can't wait to read Cadmium Yellow❣️❣️
