Oh, this series delights me ever so much! I truly wish that it would never end. This series has it all! Scenes that will make you laugh out loud, high stakes, magic, a grip of handsome mythic men to drool over, and a heroine that has no superpowers but can still kick ass with the rest of them.I am so glad that Annette Marie decided to go the route of episodic episodes for this series. While elements from each book crossover to the next in the series, each book has a self-contained plot. While there is enough information planted into the books to leave some mystery and plot points to grow on for future books, there are no cliffhangers. Marie is a truly skilled plotter. Her stories take on a life of their own. The construction of her stories is always incredibly clever and the basis of them is always unique. It is what I have come to expect from her stories and I have never been disappointed. I love that I never know what to expect from the plot and that I am always surprised by the outcomes.The world-building is much the same as in the first two books. The world itself is set in our own world, but with a secret, underlying magic world underneath. I am really enjoying the interesting magic system that Marie has created for this series. We get to explore some more of the rules and exceptions to that magic system in this book.The characters are the absolute best! They are so easy to love. They have perfect chemistry and they feel like a family. I love the deep underlying aspect of friendship in this series. The characters care so much for each other and will go to great lengths for each other in this sometimes dangerous mythic world. There is also a large aspect of family or found/chosen family. The guild is a family for those that are members and Tori has been lacking in this department for most of her life so the guild becomes that for her as well. The characters are all written with enough mystery about them and their pasts to make you wonder what the missing pieces are and how they may fit into the story in later books. I liked that Tori was going through some deep personal emotions. She has to face her fears that if she should lose her job at the guild then her new friends would be lost to her as well. She faces her abandonment issues from her past with a little help from Ezra. I liked seeing more of Kai in this book. A look at his past was awesome. I liked that Zak returned in this book. I love his character and this book just cemented my love for him. I also liked the parts with Darius. He is the leader of the guild and he is as sharp as a blade and has a big heart. I liked the tender moments with Ezra. Aaron is trying to decipher his relationship with Tori. And I liked the introduction of new characters that kept things interesting. Bottom line, Marie can write characters like no one else. They are always complex with unbelievable chemistry.There wasn't as much romance in this book. Tori and Aaron are trying to sort out their feelings for each other, but I don't want to get into it much because...spoilers. Let's just say that I wasn't surprised by anything.This series is certainly addicting. I definitely recommend this series to fantasy lovers that enjoy fast-paced plots, an original story premise, and characters that will make you laugh out loud. It is ever so easy to fall in love with these books. I can't wait for the next installment of this series, Demon Magic and a Martini, which comes out in April! (Oh god, it feels like forever!)

So i wasn't as blown away this time but i still liked the plot and I am looking forward to the next book.This picks up a little while after the last book. MPD is looking for our girl and like the last book she is feeling out of sort and her insecurities are getting the best of Tori.What threw me off a bit is that Tori before was a mixture of kickass and vulnerable. She made you believe this could just be the secret magic life you stumbled upon. This time not so much. She was more insecure and I think it let to actions she wouldn't have done before. Who lets strangers into their house? I don't care how drunk she was. This action leads her into trouble as usual but makes for exciting times. Most of the storyline was predictable until you get to the part abt a certain someone.I wish there was clearer definition on who she liked. It's now coming off as a confused reverse harem. I'm so confused I am forget who I want her to end up with...almost. haLove that we get more of The Ghost and hope he continues to show up and we get a bit of a glimpse into the past of the guys. I wish the story focused a bit more on this. Story was a bit all over the place. If i could this would be more 3.5 than 4.

The book is fabulous. Definitely character driven; whether good, bad or in-between we're treated to faceted, well drawn characters, many of whom we love. The story line commands your attention and keeps the reader engaged from page one with action, emotion and humor. I think the author was clever in creating this world which exists with the world as we know it and I anxiously await books 4-10...well, one can hope, right?I also like the way the author is handling the romance so far: it seems realistic and applied with a light touch while the group dynamics are established but the possibilities are intriguing and I look forward to that aspect as well.IMPORTANT NOTE: You probably could read this as a standalone but don't. You'd miss a great deal but most especially the two phenomenal books that precede this one!

First of all, if you're reading this to decide if you want to buy this book, don't hesitate, buy it now! But you should really start at the beginning of this series with 3 Mages and a Margarita. This is an urban fantasy series with incredibly addicting characters and story lines. I don't think this author makes grammatical or continuity errors...EVER! She's a brilliant author and really knows how to pull the emotions out of the reader. Love it!

This was by far the best one yet in this series! I loved Marie's writing since her Steel and Stone series. But this series is blowing me away with the rich world she's built and with characters that are so fully fleshed out you almost wish they were real. I love the dialogue between the characters, especially when Tori is involved! Hilarity almost ALWAYS follows her snarky banter. It was also nice to see newish old faces and to get glimpses into the guys closely guarded secrets. Seriously, I'm dying for book 4 now!! I'm also hoping it isn't the last we get to see of Zak! Amazingly awesome book! Can't wait to see what trouble Tori and the gang get into with the next book!

The Guild Codex series is so much fun…it's a quirky and fast-moving storyline. Although there are teasing hints suggesting a reverse harem (due to the closeness of the relationships), the author has kept the storyline one-on-one, but the chemistry between Tori and the three mage (and a druid) is smokin' hot. Excellent, fast-paced plots, supernatural politics, and a bartender who just wants to be included in the magical community she works in. A delightful ride. I highly recommend this urban fantasy series.

This book was great! I will just start with that. I loved the witty charm. But, I am ready for a love interest. Part of the charm of Annette's books are her solid relationships that she builds. I get that this series is episodic, and that it is meant to be fun. But, settle on a love interest already, and develop it! It is what makes Annette's writing so great!!!!

I'm on my third series by Cornwell. This is my favorite, which truly surprises me since I'm not really into this era for historical fiction. It's surprising but completely understandable simply because this is some fine writing. The characters are complex and believable as is the plot. The characters and the plot are well thought out and well written so that I experience total immersion in the story. Cornwell has certainly suspended my disbelief. One of the most annoying aspects of serial historical novels is the determined retelling of past events the characters have lived in previous stories. I know you know what I mean. Somehow I guess authors feel the necessity to engage in this type of storytelling. Cornwell has found the correct balance of retelling where it makes sense and is useful to the current story in this series. Cornwell is rapidly becoming my favorite historical novel author. I highly recommend Lords of the North and his work in the Sharpe series, the Grail Quest series and the Saxon tales series. As always, I recommend you start with the first book and read through. This is hours of inexpensive entertainment.

I started reading Cornwell after watching "The Last Kingdom" on Netflix. Apparently I've been living a sheltered life, because I haven't read any Cornwell before - but "The Warrior" or "The Saxon" chronicles, depending on what continent you're on, are just one great read after another.This is book three in the series, and we've got Uhtred, with the loyal Hild, in Northumbria, all ready to take vengeance for the wrongs that were done to him in book one, and seeking his missing sister. But, not surprisingly, many an adventure will occur first - new wrongs, an unforeseen betrayal that takes him far away from his goal, new loyalties, and always new battles.I love the well-articulated stress between Christianity and traditional Danish beliefs that permeates the series. Cornwell also does an excellent job of bringing up the violence and ignorance endemic of the times. You get an exceptional contemporary history lesson as well as a well-written story that's difficult to put down.

As I had mentioned on my prior reviews, the TV series had piqued my interest to read the book, because most adaptations would delete the long details of storytelling and change the script. I wanted to find out if there was more to Uthred’s background rather than the fast-forward version on TV. I had learned that Aethelred (Alfred’s daughter’s betrothed) was Uthred’s cousin and Hild (the nun) was his lover after Iseult died. Also, Gisela (Guthred’s sister) was kind of a fortuneteller, and she had foreseen the life she would have with Uthred and the types of children they would bear together. 😊Well, this third installment entailed how Uthred defiantly disobeyed Alfred’s edict and the consequences he would deal for his action. Like a petulant child, he travelled to North to regain his entitlement as the rightful King of Bebanburg, but of course, The Three Fates had already weaved his fate in a path that he would always be tangled in inexorable mishaps between the Danes and Christianity. A very tough road to tread on, but his hardships defined him as a great warrior.

Absolutely BrilliantLove love this series, I can't get enough. Ulthred and Ragnar are my heroes. I was totally glued to the book from Ulthreds enslavement to the all the battles in the end. I even got emotional at the end when Ragnar got his revenge and reunited with his sister. Just Wow! What a powerful moment. I loved all the Viking bantering and was mind blown with the actions of the Christian Monks, sorry to say it but I was happy that two of them got what they deserved - death. I believe this book really depicts how Christianity was really like when it began to spread or should I say how it was forced upon everyone. Yeah, it turned my stomach at their ignorance.I highly recommend this book and I have become a big fan of this Author. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

This epic series of books is a delight for fans of historical fiction. The author introduces you to the fictional character of Uhtred (Ragnarrson) of Bebbanburg in Book 1 ("The Last Kingdom") as he narrates the story of his life, loves, losses, battles, boon times and hardships, which runs through all of the volumes. Uhtred alternately gives his allegiance to The Danes and King Alfred. It is a wonderful way to learn about what life was like during the later Ninth Century and the vision of King Alfred the Great to defeat the Danes and Vikings and create a united England from various smaller kingdoms (Wessex, Mercia, etc.). As the stories unfold, you learn a great deal about the lives and beliefs of the people living during those times. Most people alive then were very much subject to being, left homeless, uprooted and/or outright slain or sold into slavery in the aftermath of the many battles that were fought during those years. They were also subject to famines due to both weather and depredation by the different armed forces. There was also the issue of a still fairly new Christianity versus the Pagan gods (Wodin/Odin) and the attempt to convert non-believers to Christianity, which was very important to King Alfred. Although each of Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles volumes can be read as a stand-alone book, I would highly recommend the complete series. I am presently reading the 4th volume, "Sword Song", and look forward to reading the remaining books in the series.

The book is okay. It's smaller than I expected with small pics and not so much detail. I'd say this book is for someone who just wants to get familiar with herbs.

Has helped me through so much. I became interested in herbal healing because of the cheapness to be honest. I wanted to use all natural herbs for daily medicinal needs like scrapes, colds or aches and pains.I've helped many family members who roll their eyes at the "hippy bullcrap" but they keep quiet when it's the lavender and tea tree on their bugbites ylthat soothe the itch and not the cheap anti itch cream that was the only thing they could afford.I love reading through the encyclopedia about herbs I never knew existed that have amazing effects. My favorite is comfrey a herb nicknamed bone nit because it heals so rapidly the book warns to pick out detritus or the skin will seal over it! The author is very scientific and touches on the different types of herbal healing used throughout history around the world and which have a actual scientific source.

I found this book to be one of the best texts on the subject of I Ching. What I enjoy about it, is the traditional aspect of the teachings. It doesn't have the summarized aspect found in a lot of modern books on spirituality. The text also has a great depth to the concept of being in harmony with life. In other words the author mentions being aware of the changes going on around us, to integrate those changes into the reading (i.e. counting the knocks on a door from a visitor and using that in the reading...)It is also interesting how the author approaches his teaching from many different angles. He makes use of Algebra, Graphs, Statistical analysis to further help explain the readings. He even talks about binary... as a software developer, I give him props for that. Yet none of his examples comes off as flashy or marketing hype. This isn't the "Quantum I Ching" (quantum seems to be the latest spiritual marketing buzz word these days)... instead the work comes off with an honesty.The way in which it's written is not perfect and yet it is perfect. There are grammatical errors and it doesn't have the gloss of a book published by a top 10 publisher. Diagrams are black and white. Sometimes diagrams have the look of photocopy prints... But there is a genuineness to it all that makes up for any imperfection in gloss or word.Having been in a variety of mystical societies, it reminds me of the material that is printed to the membership of an organization by the leadership. Such works, as certainly in this case, are generally much better than the high volume marketed publications that attract most consumers.

Fantastic. Jou Tsung Hwa was a lifelong internal arts practitioner (some quality YouTube videos of his Tai Chi practice are available) and writes with an applied knowledge that makes the book valuable for someone looking to apply Taoism. There are better translations for scholars, but this copy may be the best available in English for those interested in living some or all of the wandering taoist philosophy or scholar warrior lifestyle, as Jou Tsung Hwa gives first hand account of his attempt through this entire life.

Without a doubt, Jou-Tsung hwa's study of the ancient I-Ching is the clearest and easiest to understand. He has taken a text that Confucius himself did not undertake to study until he was past 60 years old (because he didn't think that he was mature enough until then to truly understand it) and presents it in words and concepts that Westerners can readily grasp. Most translations and discussions of the I-Ching tend towards the vague and misty. Not so with this book! If you're truly interested in understanding the I-Ching and how it works, you must have this book!

i have been doing the i ching for over 20 - 25 years and this book is veryinformative and it gives other ways of divining that is not in thewilhelm baynes classic. i highly recommend it.

In an ordinary sense this is a bad book. The typography is inept, the illustrations cribbed from who knows where, the translation a mediation between several english translations. This is, in short, not a book by a professional publications person.And yet this is a radiant personality, a fine person, a good man. Everything I've read about Master Jou is consistent with this. Our times could use more teachers of courage, moderation and decency. I'm a terrible skeptic, but I hope I know a heart of gold when I see one, even as indirectly as through the medium of a book. It gives good divinations, it gives wise, sly, canny advice. I think of it as a story told with puppets, which could be improvised or home-made, and yet tell a story of terrible importance -- and also be very entertaining. The old-school analog typography has the energy of a Godzilla movie: and some of you are aware that this is a compliment, coming from me.There is a ton of interesting ancillary material. The notes in it give other ways of doing divinations, and helps situate the Yijing in divination practice. "Plum Flower Mind I Ching" is fascinating. Very, very interesting material I really haven't see anywhere else. Also there are a number of graphical representations of the hexagrams you might not easily find in one place. Highly recommended, especially for working diviners.I have this book in a beautiful little red hardback with a plastic cover, which has given me a lot of pleasure. I recommend this edition if it is available any more.

 This is a coloring book about cats. They are quite cute. What I like most is that most of the designs are of cats are simply being cats. They are not being given human qualities though a few are a bit dressed up.Personally, the most I could ever get my cats to wear was their collar and tag. Having said that, my youngest daughter, as a child, would take our cats and dress them in her doll clothes and put them in her doll stroller. And they loved it! If I had tried it, they would have tried to remove my spleen through a nostril or something. That this book brings back those memories is a special add-on for me while I am coloring.The designs in this book are nicely detailed with a fun use of background as a integral part of the design. While I don’t consider these designs to be intricate or hard to color, there is enough going on that a project will take a bit of time to complete.You can receive a digital download of the book as part of the purchase of the print copy (instructions in the book). While printing those copies is a great plus, I will be reviewing (and videoing and photo images) from the print copy.This is what I found in this coloring book:25 Unique Cat Designs with 2 copies of each for 50 coloring pages plus a couple of bonus pages from other booksPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality by CreateSpace printing: white (with black printed on the back of each page), thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding. There is a thick framing line on each of the design pages,There are is a thumbprint index of all images at the front of the book.Glue BindingCreate Space Paper/Media QualityWhile the back of the is printed black to show less bleed through, be aware that there is bleed through and protect your work. I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher’s paper provided you don’t press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and blended easily with a pencil style blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.

This is such a cute coloring book. I like that there are doubles of each design... Double the creative options. I love Jade Summer's art. If you're a cat lover, and you like cute, you'll like this book.

I've read worse. But not by much. Its basic porn in written form with an attempt at a story. Waste of money.

I usually get samples of books before I commit to buying one. I read the sample and at first was a little turned off by the crude language from Loven. My mind kind of took it to, if this is how he talks/thinks, the female lead will probably be raped or shared.However, I gave the book a chance and am happy to report that those things did not happen. I am very much looking forward to the second book.

Fast read. I liked the idea of the story. Prefer a longer page count but this was pretty good. I’ll probably buy the second book when released. I’m not one for giving away plots, but girl meets different species, some sort of biological need kicks in and they have copious amounts of sex. No one was emotionally damaged or had horrible abusive pasts, hero was an overall good guy. Overall I liked it.

I hope there will be one of these books for all of the brothers and Vemlox! What a great read! She may not have wanted to end up on an alien planet, but at least it saved her from who ever spiked her drink. I enjoyed it as these two overcame the obstacles towards their HEA and when Kingsley finally realized she loved the big guy. I think I figured out the kings secret, but only time will tell. I look forward to reading the next book.

Hanging out for the next book, I enjoyed this so much. I like omegaverse stories but have found most to be a touch too extreme for my tastes (sadly). However this book, had all the alpha vibe I like happening in a light hearted way & I'm totally hooked. Need more please..

I’ve never read sci-fi romance. I admit I was curious. Loven was all alpha. I love when he said he wanted her heart. Kingsley didn’t know what to do with her feelings for Loven. I loved these two together. There were funny moments. I couldn’t put the book down. It was so good I wanted more once I reached the end. I’m a new fan and I can’t wait for book 2.

First time author for me. I really enjoyed this book. I don't usually read SF if the aliens aren't at least humanoid looking. And these aliens are anything but. This author found a way to write this story that was enjoyable and easy to read. She made the aliens more relatable. The characters were very likeable.I highly recommend this book.

Kingsley goes to a frat party but is transported to another world. When she is there she believes she is high and ia dreaming. When she wakes up she sees Loven an alpha. She cannot communicate with him in his language and things don't go so well. When he gets her a communicator and she tells him she wants to go home will he let her?

This book has an approachable and clear writing style. It endeavors to be a comprehensive review of a topic - Technical Editing - that is sort of a niche. It was once a great book, I think. Twenty years ago, I may have given it at least four stars.However, in 2019, this book is sorely out of date. It assumes your primary tool for editing technical documents will be pen and paper. There are references to MS Word, online publishing and email, but they feel perfunctory and tacked on. The meat of the text is about how to handle printed pieces of paper. Tracking changes is really about as modern as it gets. Google Docs and other real time collaboration tools, which are the primary domain of technical communicators in 2019, simply do not exist in this textbook. Adobe products get only the barest of glances.Honestly, I'm angry. I paid over a hundred and twenty five dollars to buy this book new, without any access to online content, because so many other reviewers complained that their rented versions were falling apart. While the book fortunately did arrive in good shape, it is criminal to charge this much for something nearly ten years out of date. (The fifth edition was published in 2011.) But they would not be able to demand this price if instructors did not keep using this book to teach their technical editing courses, so in that regard I can't really blame Amazon or the publisher. Our instructor went so far as to apologize to us for the book's heavy emphasis on paper editing. But however sorry she felt, it didn't stop her from using it as the foundation to our coursework. I suspect there aren't many other book-length treatments of the topic out there, and so for now this text continues to sell to instructors who want an "all in one" solution to their course planning, however outdated it may be.Using it is a disservice to students, though. I might even argue that technical editing isn't really a skill you can read about to any great impact aside from a few sweeping discussions about conventions and the distinctions between writers and editors. Technical editing is something you need to practice to understand. Practicing it mostly via pen and paper will not give you the skills you need to be employable in the field in 2019 and beyond.

This is an excellent textbook and was very helpful during my technical editing class. The chapters contain useful exercises at the end and the authors use real-world examples to explain concepts. Chapter length is also very manageable.However, I STRONGLY recommend against renting it from Amazon. I received a heavily-abused and marked up version of the text (to the point that I could hardly read some of it). When I returned it to Amazon, I was told that the book was damaged and that I would have to pay to replace it. So Amazon will try to use you to replace their worn out textbooks if you choose to rent from them.

I used this book in a recent technical editing course. I initially rented the book through Amazon, but the copy I received was falling apart, and had notes taken in ballpoint throughout; it was totally unusable, so I purchased a new copy, also from Amazon. I'm glad I did, because this is a book that I want to keep. I've worked in public affairs and media for most of the last 25 years. Although I don't work as an editor, I feel it is likely that I'll refer back to this book regularly.

I love this book!!! It's everything real and informative about a career in editing and what to expect in this career field work. The book is expensive and so I'm renting a used copy, but I intend on buying a new soft copy when I can afford it. This is the book that is used in college English class that I'm taking.

The book is smaller than I expected and there is an additonal fee to access the writing lab. Other publishers include a free access code with new textbooks. For such an expensive paperback, Pearson should do the same for this book.

This book is very thorough , and an excellent review of the editing process.

My grandson will be starting Pre-K in the fall. He loves crafting with his mom & big sister, drawing, coloring, etc. I ordered this book for him, along with a workbook to practice scissors skills. He loves them both & will definitely be ready for school in the fall!!
